Set at the foothills of the Western Ghats in the Dindigul district, the Slender Loris Conservation Centre offers a 1 km trail, an easy, gentle walk suited to most visitors. What if you could walk into the dark to find a creature most people will never see? Starting at the pond and winding through scrub jungle, this guided trail follows the quiet world of the Indian grey slender loris, a primate so secretive it speaks in sounds humans can’t hear. Along the way, guides explain how this nocturnal, insectivorous primate survives almost entirely on ants and termites and how it communicates using ultrasonic calls inaudible to humans. Come dusk, eyes adjust, footsteps slow, and the forest reveals itself one careful sighting at a time, a walk designed to build firsthand understanding of a unique Western Ghats ecosystem and the conservation work protecting it.
