It was my long time plan to trek in Nilgiris, but i didn't have proper permission to trek. I personally thanks Trektamilnadu for bringing such a good initiative😀. I booked alone and met guide krishna kutty at ooty bus stand who is tribal guide along with Me Gangway head of trek guide entire in trek tamilnadu. We started after having breakfast from ooty in my hero xuplse 200v along with guide. There was little drizzle on the way to parson valley trek shed which is 18km from ooty, going single and that too in bike is dangerous. When we reached the check there were formalities from trek tamilnadu and after the group photo of 6 we started the trek. Total trek distance two way is approximately 25kms, with thick vegetation in most part of the trek and little grasslands with beautiful coverage. The rain started to increase gradually on our way with pause in every half an hour. Throughout the entire trek our guide briefs about topography, weather and wild animals movements. We saw pug marks of a tiger which are more in numbers here. It took 4 hours to reach the mukurthi hut which was built by British engineer. The building contains one bedroom, kitchen, hall and one personal room. Trektamilnadu provided poha which was very tasty after trek of 4±hours. You can sight upper bhavani back waters nearby hut if weather is clear and we witnessed. After having rest of 45 mins we again headed back and it took almost 6 hours. We had nightmare while back from trek, one guy leg got cramped after 1km while returning and he somehow covered another 2kms, after that he stayed in a shed along with his friend till 8pm. Our guide dropped us all towards trek starting point and arranged a jeep to bring back them from shed. Another fat lady also was walking very slowly, so we got late to reach trek start point. Finally our guide reaches home at 11pm.He told it was first time he experienced such nightmare in a year from trektamilanadu. I reached my room around 8.40pm.
Among the top five treks from Trek Tamilnadu. Best time is just before and just after the monsoon. Beautiful landscape with brooks and creeks, dales and vales. Chance to sight dholes, sambhar, barking deer, gaur, wild boar and a lot of birds.
This trek route is so beautiful. The terrain is rolling and views are beautiful. Grasslands, river crossings, hills, waterfalls and sholas, is what one can expect along the way. Very beautiful trek route.
I had a wonderful experience trekking from Parson Valley to Mukurthi Hut. The trail was peaceful and filled with natural beauty. We walked through green forests, open grasslands, and enjoyed stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The air was fresh and clean, making the journey even more pleasant. The path wasn’t too difficult, and we had enough time to take in the beautiful scenery. Our guide, Mr. Rangasamy Sir, was kind, helpful, and very knowledgeable about the forest, which made the trek more interesting and informative. Reaching the Mukurthi Hut was an amazing feeling. It's a calm and quiet place in the heart of nature—perfect for resting after a long walk. The food served was simple but delicious, and the night under the stars was truly peaceful. A big thank you to Pannir Sir for his kind support in making this trek possible. His help and encouragement made the journey smooth and enjoyable for all of us. Note: Reaching the starting point of the trek can be a bit difficult, especially for first-time visitors. We had to take an auto from the Ooty bus stand, but some auto drivers were not familiar with the exact location and took us to the wrong place. Because of this, we faced a small delay and some struggle to reach the starting point on time. It would be very helpful if better transport arrangements or clear directions could be provided for future trekkers. Thank you to the Tamil Nadu Government for this wonderful initiative. It's a great opportunity for nature lovers to explore and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Nilgiris.
The trek route is great that had moderate to tough paths. The trek seemed not so tough with the help of our friendly guides Nanthakumar anna and Gowtham anna. The food is also fine. Loved the forest and the rivers on the way. The guides took care of our needs so well. Thanks to both of them and Gopi anna for helping us arrange the trip.
