Welcome to the Hill station of Yercaud, located in Salem district, Tamil Nadu. Alight at Nagalur village, where the adventure begins. Step onto the Sanniyasimalai trail in the company of Guides and you can have a wholesome experience of trekking through the Eucalyptus plantations and verdant Shola Forest patch to reach the fern-covered mountain viewpoint. Admire the rich biodiversity, the rocky peaks, Mettur dam-view and the valley beneath while breathing in the misty mountain air. You'll be delighted to know that this peak is the origin point of the Sarabanga river, a tributary of the Cauvery.

Things to remember before you book a trek
- Trekking in forests invariably requires physical endurance depending upon the category of the trek.

completed my first trekking on 10.11.2024 nagalur too sanniyasimalai peak. it was a great experience for me and my 11 year old boy, he enjoyed a lot and learned many things about nature Mr. subash and Mr. rajesh explained very well. friendly approach and support by them , view point was amazing .very impressive and warm welcomed by mr. tamilarasan. received trek kit from mr.murugan, he guided us very well. every one try this trek at least one time in life. thanks to tamil nadu forest department and taminadu government for this initiative. whole heartly thanks to officials and all team keep doing and proudly we can that we have a great trek experience in our native cities.

10.11.2024 we completed our nagalur to sanniyasimalai peak trek , It was amazing experience trekking in forest. very friendly support officials Mr. tamil arasan and guide Mr.subash and Mr.Rajesh make this trek wonderful ; our kids also enjoyed a lot during trek and learned about nature completely new experience for this generation kids. thanks to Tamilnadu government and Tamilnadu forest department for this initiative.

Its been like dream come true moment for our entire family when our Hon'ble Dy.CM sir launched #TrektamilNadu. Though we had multiple private Trekking operators across the country, we wanted to explore this new venture by Govt of Tamil Nadu as its web portal and responses and replies through live chat options were appealing and convincing to us. Next where and when to plan ??? With no other doubt for trial run we decided to explore the easy option for us i.e at our very home town salem i.e., yercaud-sanniyasimalai trek.. Initially we planned for our family of 4 & later the group bubbled to 11 members of 3 families which had 6 kids and 5 adults... kids age group was respectively 4,6,8,12,15 years. Our experience : Right from online enquiry till we completed our trip it was fabulous experience with such wonderful followups supports and hospitality from every stake holders viz. Trek tamilnadu team and TN forest dept team. We were so fortunate that District Forest Officer & Dy Collector along with other forest officials joined us during the trek. We were asked to come to the forest department office. There, Ranger Mr. Murugan and Dep. Ranger Mr. Tamilarasan greeted us and paper formalities were completed.. We were given Trek Kit with snacks, cap, pen as a part of activity.. Then we were taken to the trek area.. We were accompanied by 3 guides (Mr.Subash,Mr.Manoj & Mr.Mahendran) Ranger, Dep. Ranger,Mr. Surya circle incharge (Trek TN), DC madam and DFO sir... As we started with the trek it started to rain.. We felt like a warm welcome from the sanniyasimalai RF. Then as we went through the climate was awesome that we saw rain, clouds, mist, clear sky, sun too. Trek was easy and enjoyable.. People accompanying us explained each and every thing and assisted us safely and securely. We thoroughly enjoyed too the core and love to explore more along with #trektamilnadu Our special and sincere thanks to Hon'ble CM sir and Dy.CM for launching such a wonderful intiative by TN Govt.
